In case you haven’t noticed, we skipped January. The month simply got away from us.

But for February, we’ve picked the Milwaukee 2760-20 M18 FUEL SURGE 2760-22_61/4 Inch Hex Hydraulic Driver.

This tool came out in November, and as it is the quietest cordless fastening solution on the market, we’ve heard nothing but praise for it.

The SURGE is technically not an impact driver, but is very similar and does many of the same things. So it cannot be directly compared to an impact driver. It’s kind of in a class of its own.

So why do we like it, and why is it our Tool of the Month?

The SURGE driver delivers 450-inch-pounds of sustained torque. 2760-22_EBasically, this means that (while 450-inch-pounds may not sound very powerful,) it has a longer delivery time than most impact drivers at its peak torque, which results in greater application speeds.

As mentioned earlier, it’s 50% quieter than standard impact drivers (though hearing protection is still recommended). So Milwaukee created this tool with commercial tradesman (those working in occupied spaces) in mind, and is ideal for small and medium fastening applications.2760-22_C

And in addition, it has 3X’s less vibration than standard impact drivers for smoother operation.

Lastly, it’s small! Without the battery pack, it could almost pass as an M12 based on its size.

2760 KITS

The SURGE comes as a bare tool, a kit with two XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Packs or a kit with two 2.0 Compact Battery Packs.
