Last week I posted about Milwaukee’s Dust Extraction Systems for Drilling that will help workers comply with the new requirements issued by Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) regarding their amendments to the existing standards for occupational exposure to respirable crystalline silica (found in asphalt, brick, cement, concrete, drywall, grout, mortar, stone, sand and tile, just to name a few). Employers covered by the construction standard have until June 23, 2017 to comply with most of these new requirements. (The rule will become enforceable June 23, 2018 for the maritime and general industries.)
Now I want to go over Milwaukee’s Dust Extraction Systems for Grinding.
Milwaukee has made this pretty simple. They have two dust shrouds and a hose adapter.
The 49-40-6100 4″-5″ Universal Surface Grinding Dust Shroud and the 49-40-6105 7″ Universal Surface Grinding Dust Shroud (just different sizes) fit most pro-banded grinders. They have high density bristles, which provide maximum dust collection and containment. Plus, they have a clear clip on the front for greater visibility and control.
Stick the 49-40-6190 18″ Hose Adapter on one of the dust shrouds and attach the hose to a vacuum, and you’re all set! The hose serves as a quick attachment to most industrial-type vacuums.
Happy grinding! (And don’t forget to use the approved respirator(s) for your applications!)
