Last year we spoke a lot about OSHA’s Silica Dust Rule, which is now in effect. The most frequent complaints we hear about the new rule is that it’s costing more money to comply, which makes sense.

The rule doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon, but you’re in luck…because Milwaukee has come out with a low-cost solution to comply!

Introducing the SDS-Plus Dust Trap Drilling Shroud!

This is the industry’s first method of objective data compliance* that does not require the use of a dust extractor. (It is Table I compliant with the use of a dust extractor.*)

At first glance, you might think the Dust Trap looks like a slinky wrapped in plastic wrap. However, it’s much more impressive than it looks.

Milwaukee says this is the “ideal bulk conversion solution.”

The first thing we like about this? It fits ALL SDS-Plus rotary hammers! That’s right…it doesn’t matter if you swear by Milwaukee, or prefer to use Dewalt, Bosch, Makita, or another brand of rotary hammer. And it fits all SDS-Plus drill bits up to 8″ in overall length, including stop bits.

The Dust Trap fits on the front of your rotary hammer, and is ideal for overhead drilling applications, as it keeps the dust contained throughout the duration of your drilling. After drilling, just empty the sleeve.

The sleeve is clear, allowing for optimal visibility when lining up holes during drilling. And the Dust Trap has a collapsible design for tight access, and a locking mechanism to make sure it doesn’t take up too much storage space.

And we mentioned that this is a low-cost solution. Here’s a chart from Milwaukee that shows how this can save you money.

Pre-orders are available now, and they’re expected to start shipping in March 2018.

Happy drilling!
